PERSONALIZED HAIR REMOVAL
Unwanted hair is not merely cosmetic; it can be uncomfortable, time-consuming, and emotionally distressing. Genetics, hormones, medications, life stage, and underlying health conditions can all influence hair growth. I evaluate your hair color and density, skin tone, treatment area, medical history, prior removal methods, and goals before recommending laser hair removal, electrolysis, or a combination of both.
A NOTE FROM ELIZABETH
Unwanted hair can affect how you feel every day. I want you to understand why the hair is growing, which treatment can actually work, and what the process will require. I explain what I am doing at each visit and adjust the plan as your hair and skin respond. The goal is not a quick promise—it is safe, lasting improvement using the method best suited to you.
— Elizabeth Hagen, ARNP, Owner & Provider
WHY HAIR GROWTH CHANGES
PCOS, elevated androgens, perimenopause, menopause, and other hormonal shifts can cause new or increasingly coarse facial and body hair.
Medications such as systemic corticosteroids—including prednisone—and certain other therapies may contribute to excess or altered hair growth.
Repeated tweezing, waxing, and sugaring can irritate the follicle and contribute to ingrown hairs, inflammation, post-inflammatory pigmentation, and scarring. These temporary methods may also distort follicles, making later electrolysis more difficult.
Treatment areas include the face, chin, neck, underarms, bikini area, legs, back, chest, abdomen, arms, hands, and feet.
Hair removal is available for facial and body goals, gender affirmation, and preoperative preparation for gender-affirming surgery.
Sudden, rapidly progressive, or concerning hair changes may warrant medical evaluation.
TREATMENT OPTIONS
We use the Soprano Ice 810nm diode laser by Alma Lasers, which targets black and brown pigment within actively growing follicles and is the most efficient choice for larger areas of dark, coarse hair. It produces long-term hair reduction, but multiple sessions and occasional maintenance may be needed because hair grows in cycles and hormonal stimulation can continue.

Using the RA Fischer SE-5 electrolysis machine, we treat each individual follicle with a fine sterile probe and electrical energy. It is a method of permanent hair removal and can treat every hair color and skin tone when the hair can be seen and accessed.
WHY PRIOR REMOVAL METHODS MATTER
Tweezing, waxing, and sugaring repeatedly pull hair from the follicle. This can irritate the skin, contribute to ingrown hairs and folliculitis, worsen pigmentation, and lead to scarring. It may also distort the follicle, making electrolysis more difficult. Laser hair removal and electrolysis treat the follicle itself and reduce the repeated trauma caused by temporary removal.
YOUR TREATMENT PLAN
We review hair and skin characteristics, medical history, medications, hormonal influences, prior methods, and goals.
Your plan may use the Soprano Ice diode laser, RA Fischer SE-5 electrolysis, or both. A test spot may be recommended when appropriate.
Sessions are timed around hair-growth cycles. Total visits vary by area, density, method, hormones, and individual response.
We monitor skin response and progress. Hormonal stimulation may create new growth even after treated follicles are reduced or permanently removed.
SAFE, INCLUSIVE CARE
Hair removal may be appropriate for adults seeking fewer unwanted hairs, less shaving, relief from recurrent ingrown hairs, improved comfort, gender affirmation, or preoperative preparation.
Laser candidacy depends on hair pigment and skin tone, while electrolysis can treat all hair colors and skin tones. Treatment may be postponed for active infection, open skin, significant irritation, recent sun exposure, or other safety concerns.
New or rapidly increasing hair growth may be related to medication effects, hormone changes, or an endocrine condition and should be medically evaluated.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Laser is best described as long-term hair reduction. Maintenance may be needed, particularly when hormones continue to stimulate new growth.
Electrolysis can permanently remove treated follicles. A series is required because not every hair is in the treatable growth phase at the same time.
The best approach depends on hair color, density, skin tone, and goals. Laser may efficiently reduce dark coarse growth; electrolysis permanently treats individual hairs of any color. Combination treatment is often useful.
Systemic corticosteroids such as prednisone can contribute to increased hair growth. Medication changes should only be made with the prescribing clinician; hair removal can address unwanted growth while medical needs are managed.
Yes, as directed before and during treatment. Shaving or clipping is usually preferred for laser, while electrolysis requires short visible hair.
Reducing the triggering hair can decrease future inflammation. Existing pigmentation or scarring may require separate dermatology or skin treatment after active irritation is controlled.
